STEP 1: CREATE YOUR REACT APP WITH TYPESCRIPT AS A TEMPLATE

You can you the command below to create a typescript with react
$ npx create-react-app {appName} — template typescript

STEP 2: CREATE A COMPONENT INSIDE THE SRC FOLDER. ADD A FILE CALL USEFETCH TO THE COMPONENT

make a file inside your component folder called useFetch.tsx this is where all our custom hook logic will go, see below for reference.

STEP 3: ADD THE CUSTOM HOOK LOGIC INSIDE THE FILE WE CREATED.

The file below contains the logic for creating a custom hook.

STEP 4: NOW INSIDE THE APP.TSX FILE WE NEED TO CALL OUR CUSTOM HOOK TO FETCH DATA FROM THE API.

To retrieve data from an API, we will now call the custom fetch hook.

Conclusion: Using react typescript and an API, develop custom hooks in four simple steps.
